This idea for this sculpture was conceived by the committee of the Muttaburra Sculpture Festival, and sculpture Milynda Rogers made this amzing work to mark the start of the Muttaburra Sculpture History Track. The sculpture was unveiled on 28th July 2024 by sculpture Milynda Rogers and indigenous and South-Sea Islander leaders Kerry and Janeece Thompson.

"There were many tribes all over that timbered country originally - each having its own hunting district, and burras, Mootaburras, ... Mungaburras, Queenpenburras, Bulwinburra and Dalleburras. Each of the tribes spoke a dialect of their own, but many word of adjacent tribes were the same, and they understood each other. They had their own laws - and these were strictly maintained,, especially those relating to marriage. These were regulted and controlled by the elders. The ties of blood were safeguarded..."

"Muttaburra is a mutilation of Mootaburra, the name of the trible occupying that portion of the Thompson wherebout Muttaburra now tand - and coming up as far as the Fighting Waterhole - on Towerhill Creek which is the boundary of the Dalleburras..."
